DESCRIPTION:

      The Calimani National Park, with its volcanic roots, has left some unique and fascinating imprints in the region. These include Europe's largest inactive caldera, which spans around 10 km and plunges 800 meters deep, as well as the oddly-shaped rocks famously known as the '12 Apostles'.

The Calimani mountains are also considered among the newest in Romania, extending over approximately 2,000 square kilometers between Transylvania and Moldavia. The highest peak, Pietrosul Calimani, towers at 2,100 meters above sea level.

• DAY 1

​​

   1.Route: Sulfur quarry – Saua Negoiu –  Negoiu Unguresc peak (2.081 m) –  Pietrosul Călimani peak (2.102 m) and return

1. Gura Haitii – Sulfur quarry ~2.5 h walking (30 min. with car)

2. Sulfur quarry – Șaua Negoiu: ~1 h

3. Saua Negoiu – Negoiu Unguresc peak: ~1 h 

4. Negoiu Unguresc peak – Pietrosul Călimani peak (2100 m) : 30 min. and return.

• Duration: 4 hours (from Sulfur quarry,including breaks)

   2.Walking in Tinovul Mic (peat bog)-Experience a magical stroll on a wooden bridge through a swampy forest straight out of a fairytale in Saru Dornei. The peat bog is a unique ecosystem where groundwater reaches the surface, giving rise to a distinctive flora dominated by moss.

• DAY 2

  1. Route: Gura Haitii village – 12 Apostles reserve - Red Stones – Gura Haitii village

1. Gura Haitii village – ridge: 3 h

2. Ridge – 12 Apostles – return and continue until to the 

Red Stones: 2 h (including breaks)

3. Red Stones – Gura Haitii village: 1h 30

2. Road trip : Zugreni Gorges -  is a significant geological reserve in the northern Bistrita Mountains, showcasing the most striking section of Bistrita River. Its steep slopes are truly remarkable, with rocky walls towering up to 200-300 meters in height.

Transrarau road - The road passing through the Rarau massif combining adrenaline with breathtaking views, reaching an altitude of 1,400 m.

         DON'T FORGET:

• ​It is a medium difficulty ride due to the length and duration of the route, but it does not raise technical issues.  However, participants must have a good physical condition and have minimal experience on the mountain.

• Mandatory equipment: waterproof hiking boots,waterproof jacket+ backpack rain cover, warm clothes depending on season, backpack,sunglasses, sun hat, sunscreen with high SPF, water bottles,headlight,batteries,charger/ portable power bank,first-aid kit, energy bars / snacks /food, and hiking sticks(optional). If you do not have your own equipment, we can rent the equipment for the hike.

• To secure your booking, a deposit of 50 euro/person is required.For a full refund, cancel at least 7 days in advance of the start date of the experience.
