DESCRIPTION:
Chernivtsi(Cernauti) is one of a must-see cities in North
Bucovina(Ukraine). The city was once dubbed "Little Vienna" and "Jerusalem upon the Prut". Was capital of Bucovina under Austrian rule from 1775 to 1918, and after the fall of the Austro-Hungarian Empire in 1918, it became part of Romania until 1940. Northern Bucovina was ceded to Russia in 1940, and become part of USSR. For centuries, under the influence of historical events, Chernivtsi has formed as a multinational and multicultural city. Chernivtsi was inhabited by Ukrainians, Romanians, Poles, Ruthenians, Jews, Roma, and Germans. Here you will find an interesting mix of antiquity, modern architecture, buried in green streets, and an unimaginable number of colors.
