DESCRIPTION:

     The Rarau and Giumalau massif are sections of the Eastern Carpathians and are popular tourist destinations in Bucovina. Despite their moderate heights (Rarau-1653 m and Giumalau-1857 m), the beauty of the karst relief, ancient forests, and geological preserves, as well as the numerous easy hiking paths, attract many mountain enthusiasts.

   

Our hiking routes:

• DAY 1

​

1. Moara Dracului Gorge - natural monument. This gorge is approximately 60-70 meters in length and 4-5 meters wide, featuring vertical walls, and is situated along the upper course of the Valea Caselor river.

 

2. Rarau route: Alpin Rarau Hotel – the Lady’s Stones - Rarau peak – Hawk's stone – Alpin Rarau Hotel

• Duration: 4.5 hours (including breaks)

• Difficulty: easy - moderate

• Distance 6.3 km 

• The difference in level is 287 m

3. The Zugreni Gorges reserve boasts a breathtaking landscape with rock mountain flora, including the protected edelweiss and woodland vegetation such as spruce, mountain maple, mountain elm, lime, and aspen, attracting many tourists.​

   

• DAY 2

​

1. Giumalau route : Transrarău - Saua Colbului -  Giumalau peak (1858 m) - Giumalau Chalet - Transrarau

A. Saua Fundu Colbului (Transrarau) - Polita Caprelor - Varful Giumalau 2,5 h

B. Varful Giumalau- Cabana Giumalau - Polita Caprelor - Saua fundu colbului (Transrarau) 2.5 - 3 h

• Duration: 6 hours (including breaks)

• Difficulty: easy - moderate

• Distance 12.7 km 

• The difference in level is 630 m

2. Sadova village - is known for its natural beauty and traditional way of life. The village is surrounded by forests and hills, and there are many opportunities for hiking and other outdoor activities in the area.

Iezer lake - The formation of this lake can be attributed to a slope landslide that occurred 400-500 years ago. The special view and the silence make it an unforgettable place.​

         DON'T FORGET:

• ​It is an easy - moderate difficulty ride due to the length and duration of the route, but it does not raise technical issues.  However, participants must have a good physical condition and have minimal experience on the mountain.

• Mandatory equipment: waterproof hiking boots,waterproof jacket+ backpack rain cover, warm clothes depending on season, backpack,sunglasses, sun hat, sunscreen with high SPF, water bottles,headlight,batteries,charger/ portable power bank,first-aid kit, energy bars / snacks /food, and optional hiking sticks. If you do not have your own equipment, we can rent the equipment for the trail.

• To secure your booking, a deposit of 30 euro/person is required.For a full refund, cancel at least 7 days in advance of the start date of the experience.
